Journalist + Content Creator
EXPERIENCE
February 2020 -
CONTENT CREATORÂ - FREELANCE
I use my writing and editing skills to create content for clients. Currently, I am writing promotional email campaigns, newsletters, press releases, case studies and social media posts for a variety of clients as well as acting as an editor and proofreader. I work on a project-by-project basis or can collaborate with a team for longer projects. I can also assist with strategy and planning for content, including social media, blog posts and newsletters.

EDITORIAL INTERN - BOSTON MAGAZINE
As an editorial intern, I worked on projects for the monthly magazine as well as Boston Home and Boston Weddings. I fact-checked articles, stockist listings, and other content and assisted reporters by transcribing interviews and researching. My byline appeared three times: Top 50 Public High Schools spread (Boston, September 2019); Fall Arts Preview spread (Boston, September 2019); art exhibition round-up (Boston Home, Winter 2020).

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN - BELFER CENTER
I interviewed two fellows for short profiles that I wrote and were published in the Belfer Center's Spring and Summer newsletter. Faculty members and fellows are often quoted or published in major publications, and I was responsible for using Cision and Factiva to identify these articles to distribute internally and upload to the website using the content management system. I also managed the center's general email inbox and ensured messages were getting to the correct people. I worked closely with the other intern and associate director of communications.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN - IS AIX-EN-PROVENCE
IS Aix-en-Provence is a small language school in the south of France (Aix-en-Provence) that provides programs for school groups, individual adults, and professionals. I was the first communications intern hired after I attended the program as a student in May 2017. I worked closely with the director of the school to develop marketing materials that could be used on the website and social media. I scripted, filmed, and edited one- to five-minute promotional videos. Additionally, I wrote articles and emails in French and English, assisted with the translation of existing marketing materials, and copyedited and updated the English version of the website.

EDITOR - ATLAS MAGAZINE
A lifestyle publication at Emerson College, Atlas magazine is printed once every semester. I started as a writer for the Globe section where I wrote about the history of the suffrage movement in the Cayman Islands, which required a lot of research, including at the islands' National Archives, and interviews. Later, I was an editor for the Campus and Globe sections where I was responsible for selecting writers and pitches that aligned with the semester's theme. I managed a team of three writers and assisted them with research and ensure they were on track to meet deadlines. As a member of the editorial board, I helped to brainstorm themes, provide feedback on other sections, and proofread the proof.
September 2016 - December 2018
OPINION EDITOR - BERKELEY BEACON
I started at The Berkeley Beacon in my freshman year as a contributor to the opinion section where I wrote about my experience as an international student. As the deputy opinion editor, I edited articles according to the newspaper's style guidelines and AP Style. I would also recruit writers and help them with their pitches. In my final semester at the Beacon, I was the opinion editor and managed the deputy and assistant editor and contributors. I worked under multiple deadlines for our online (published four times per week) and print (published once a week) editions. The online articles I uploaded using our WordPress website and used Adobe InDesign to layout the print spread. I also spearheaded the weekly editorial board article. As the opinion editor, I am most proud of creating a formal international student column for the section.
